Prepaid

What is a Prepaid?

A prepaid is a payment arrangement where a customer pays for access to a product or service in advance for a specified period, often receiving a discounted rate. By paying more upfront, this usually results in paying less on a per month basis.

Key Takeaways
  • Prepaids can be Recurring or One Time
  • Gifts commonly use a prepaid structure
  • Multiple Shipments is utilized to determine how many shipments must go out for a single charge
Example Prepaid

3 month prepaid: The consumer pays upfront for 3 months supply of a product. The consumer is charged up front and receives a new shipment every month for the 3 months.

One Time Prepaid

Prepaid can be one-time, meaning the customer is charged once and has access for the specified agreed upon time. There are no additional charges that are scheduled after the initial purchase. Within that 1 charge, multiple Shipments can be triggered across set timeframes.

Prepaid Subscription

Prepaid subscriptions renew at the end of the prepaid term for the original term length. This means that if you initially subscribed for a 3 month prepay of a monthly subscription, it would renew for an additional 3 months at the end of the subscription term.

  • If you cancel your prepaid subscription, you will still receive all of the boxes you have already paid for.
  • If you change your product or term for your subscription, the changes won't take effect until the prepaid subscription term ends. This is because that prepay and its shipments were already paid and accounted for.
