Upsell Offers

An e-commerce upsell funnel is a strategic process designed to increase the average order value by offering customers additional products or upgrades that complement their initial purchase. It involves guiding customers through a series of targeted offers and incentives to encourage them to add more items to their shopping cart before completing the checkout process.

Upsells funnels are associated with the Offer. This allows for post-cart upsell offerings to be based on the type of offer a customer is checking out with.

Configuring Upsell options to be used within the checkout is the best way to increase the average order value of a customer.

Creating an Upsell Offer

Any Item specific Offer may also be sold as an upsell.

* Navigate to the Offer tab

  1. Select Add Offer

  2. Input the name

  3. Select Offer Type

    1. Recurring: This will continue to schedule and bill until the customer cancels
    2. One Time Sale: This will charge the customer once, with no subsequent transactions being scheduled
  4. Select Offer Product Type

    Item: This is used if you are selling a single Item on this Offer. It could be a uniquely setup offer such as offering a trial period for that product that would have a unique cycle 1 then renew to cycle 2. Item based Offer Types typically rely on using the cycle builder for the sales strategy

  5. Hit Submit

  6. Complete the Offer Setup as needed

Within the Upsell Tab of the Offer, you can setup what should be displayed when this Offer is being presented as an upsell

This will be just offered on the Upsell, not on the initial sale unless configured. Select if there are quantity discounts available. These will be automatically applied if the customer purchases the predetermined quantity.

If checked, you would like to use the parent offer discounted base price for upsell if items match. Example would be if you checkout

In Cart Upsell Profile

Attach the Upsell Profile that should be presented in-cart, when this Offer is present at checkout. Upsells will be presented in the order they are configured within the Profile.

In Cart Additional Upsell Offers

Attach any additional Upsell Offer that should be presented in-cart, when this Offer is present at checkout. These will be presented after any Upsell Profile offerings.

Post Cart Upsell Profile

Attach the Upsell Profile that should be presented post-cart, when this Offer is present at checkout. Upsells will be presented in the order they are configured within the Profile.

Post Cart Additional Upsell Offers

Attach the Upsell Profile that should be presented post-cart, when this Offer is present at checkoutThese will be presented after any Upsell Profile offerings.

Offer URL

For Headless - add in the URL to use for any upsell redirect. This URL will be returned in the API and can be used to dynamically present Upsell Pages.

Creating an Upsell Profile

Upsell Profiles are located within the Sales Channel Configuration section under Settings. You may create as many Upsell Profiles as needed.

Dynamic Item Offers cannot be sold as an upsell

Because Dynamic Items require the user to select the base Item, these may not be sold as an Upsell. Create a specific Item based Offer for any Upsell.

Within the profile you will set the Offer to be used in the Upsell Funnel as well as the order that you wish for these to display.

You have the ability to set a quantity discount profile for the offer that you have marked as an upsell. This will be located on the Upsell Funnel tab of the Offer.

To Create an Upsell Profile

  1. Navigate to Settings
  2. Select Upsell Profiles, under Sales Channel Configuration
  3. Select Add Upsell Profile
  4. Name the profile
  5. Give the profile a description
  6. Hit Submit
  7. Select the Configuration Tab
  8. Select the Offer to be added to the Profile
    1. The order in which the Offers are is the order in which they will appear within the Upsell Funnel
  9. Hit Save

Using an Upsell Profile

Now that you have your Upsell Profile Created, its time to use it.

Upsell Profiles are attached to a specific Offer.

FAQs

If an Upsell Profile contains the same offer that is already in the cart, it will not be displayed as a duplicate

Post Cart Profiles will display an unlimited number of subsequent offers within the flow. For example, if you have two different profiles set (each with 3 different offers) on two items that are in the cart, the customer can be presented up to 6 different post-cart upsell offers.

The credit card is authorized for the original cart value and then re-authorized for the post-cart additions before processing payment. If the post-cart value is not approved, the initial authorization amount will be processed.
