Item vs Dynamic Item

Offer Product Type: What is a Dynamic Item vs Item?

When building an Offer, one of the first questions you are asked is if the Offer Product Type is an Item or a Dynamic Item. What is the difference?

Dynamic Item

A Dynamic Item Product Type will allow you to sell multiple Items within a single offer.

When to use this Product Type?

  • All Items are sold the same way - single billing plan (one time, monthly, etc). The Cycle Builder is not an option for Dynamic Items.
  • All Offer Details are shared by all Items (Restrictions, Responders, Dunning, etc)
🚧

Restrictions of Dynamic Item Product Types

These types of Offers cannot be sold as an Upsell

These types of Offers cannot be sold within Shopify

Item

An Item Product Type means this Offer will sell just a single Sku.

When would you use this Product Type?

  • When using the Cycle Builder. **This means you have multiple renewal cycles that are created differently.
  • For Upsell Items
  • Within a Shopify Store

In this example, you are offering a 21 day sample size of the product for a lower rate. After the 21 days, you will get a monthly renewal of the standard size for higher price.

In this scenario you are:

  • Shipping a different Item first - Vitamin C Serum Sample, where all subsequent renewals will receive Vitam C Serum (standard size)
  • Charging a different amount at first ($18.00)that renews to a higher amount ($49.95)
Because there are unique variables in this setup that you cannot globally apply, a unique Offer is created specific to this Item.
